Xueyi Bai

Born in Shanghai, Xueyi Bai has been a member of the Chinese Calligraphers' Association since 1992, one of few in Australia, and her calligraphy works have been featured in many major national exhibitions. A graduate of the Shanghai Teachers College and Shanghai University College of Fine Arts, Xueyi worked as a Chinese calligraphy teacher in the Shanghai Children’s Palace for 12 years and also part time at the Shanghai Fudan University, developing her skill and passion for calligraphy education. Xueyi also authored two textbooks for youth calligraphy teaching methods.

Since coming to Australia, Xueyi has remained extremely devoted to her work, having run calligraphy lectures at the Brett Whiteley Studio and Australian Museum. Currently, Xueyi is a workshop presenter at the Art Gallery of NSW where she has taught hundreds of students since 1997, and also presented workshops for teacher professional development and corporate events. In 2009, she had her solo exhibition at the Nol Gallery in the Blue Mountains, and since 2015, Xueyi has taught Chinese calligraphy at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre. Xueyi teaches in both Mandarin and English.
